About the Opportunity
The Mill College Children's School follows a progressive model of education for Toddler through Transitional Kindergarten. The Preschool Teacher Assistant works closely with the program team, supporting the planning and supervision an exemplary curriculum for the designated program, using a reflective, inquiry approach to analyze and improve instruction. The successful candidate will support the development of child and adult learning by engaging in teacher led inquiry for improvement of teaching.
Representative Duties
Responsibilities include:
- Support the planning and implementation of a play-based, constructivist curriculum based on the best-available knowledge of children's learning and linked to the California state frameworks. Regularly work with colleagues of the Children's School to study children's classroom learning.
- Support, supervise and ensure safety and well-being of children in the program.
- Organize and lead activities designed to promote children's physical, cognitive, motor, social and emotional development.
- Maintain active and open communications with parents/guardians of the children and with the other members of the Children's School staff and School of Education faculty.
- Professionalism - Work effectively and collaboratively with colleagues, parents, and children within a diverse and multicultural environment.
Requirements
- Two or more years recent successful classroom teaching support experience
- TB Clearance and good health screening report
- Pediatric CPR/first aid training.
