Lecturer/Assistant Teaching Professor of Chemistry and Biology

Penn State DuBois is searching for a Lecturer/Assistant Teaching Professor of Chemistry and Biology. This is a full-time, fixed term, teaching line faculty position (36-week position, with option for renewal to teach in the sciences beginning in 2022 for the start of the fall semester.

Responsibilities: The successful applicant will teach introductory and upper-level courses in chemistry and biology. These courses require a strong understanding of introductory, distributed, and advanced biology and chemistry and the ability to teach mathematics, if needed. The successful candidate will serve the campus; will advise students and provide career guidance; collaborate in recruitment and retention of science students; participate in campus, university, and community service activities; engage in activities to stay current in the discipline. The expectation is that the successful applicant will use traditional, hybrid, and online delivery methods as needed, and teaching assignments may require teaching day and evening as needed.

The successful candidate will be expected to support a diverse student body and campus community, including appreciating and respecting differences in race and ethnicity, gender and sexual orientation, religious affiliation, age and life experience, nationality and language, and physical capabilities. We actively look for faculty with a commitment to supporting diversity in their various roles.

Qualifications: Successful applicants should have at a minimum an earned Ph.D. in chemistry or biology or a closely related field, or be an active candidate for a terminal degree, in an academic field related to their teaching specialization. Experience as a practicing professional in the science discipline is a plus, commitment to high-quality instruction in a student-centered environment is desired. Interest in active and collaborative learning, the instructional use of technology, and hybrid and online teaching is an advantage. Prior college-level and online teaching experience preferred. Enthusiasm for working in a multidisciplinary environment is important.
