Position description

The Department of Chemistry and Biochemistry at the University of California, Santa Barbara invites applications for a Tenure Track Teaching Faculty Position in Organic Chemistry.

Responsibilities of the position include teaching undergraduate Organic Chemistry and related courses, managing undergraduate organic labs, upgrading laboratory and discussion sections, mentoring teaching assistants, assisting in student safety training, and participating in university service and professional activities.

The University is especially interested in candidates who can contribute to the diversity and excellence of the academic community through teaching and service as appropriate to the position. Successful candidates for this position will demonstrate evidence of a commitment to equity and inclusion in their application materials, including the Diversity Statement.

Qualifications

Basic qualifications (required at time of application)

Applicants must have completed all requirements for a PhD (or equivalent) except the dissertation in Organic Chemistry or a closely related field by the time of application.

Additional qualifications (required at time of start)

The PhD (or equivalent) should be conferred by the anticipated appointment start date.

Preferred qualifications

Applicants currently holding the rank of lecturer (or equivalent) are also welcome to apply. A demonstrated record of excellence in teaching and outreach are desired. Candidates with two year's teaching experience after receiving a PhD is preferred, but not required.
